Convenient stay for the Cider Route
| We stayed in Chambre Aubergine at Chateau Launay for two nights in early October. Mark Janssen is a very friendly and welcoming host and I believe, in time, this will become a top notch B&B. He has made a good beginning. We enjoyed our stay and had no real complaints, but I will go into detail so you can decide if it will work for you. The breakfast is superb, heartier and with greater variety than we encountered at most B&B's. It is served in the only ground floor room that guests have access to, a nice dining room in this very old and elegant house. There were various cold cuts, excellent cheeses, good breads, both savory and sweet. Excellent jams, great yogurts, good butter, cereals, juices, teas and an expresso machine so coffee is on demand. Mark will make fresh eggs and bacon if you desire. He is eager to accommodate your needs and speaks excellent English. We enjoyed interesting conversation with him and the Dutch and English guests we met there.Our room was on the second (first French) floor. The French queen size bed (160x200) was comfortable and larger than an American queen size, so that those of us who are accustomed to an American king size mattress were still comfortable. Bed linens are nice. The bathroom is very modern with a nice fully enclosed shower, but the room is small with the sink, shower and toilet all in one space in case you are looking for something large. Towels were fine, but, if I remember correctly, there were no washcloths (not unusual). There is a hairdryer. We appreciated the cleanliness. Our room was nicely decorated. There is a flat screen TV. You have easy access to electrical outlets. We appreciated that WIFI Internet was free and there were bottles of water thoughtfully provided for our use. A coffee/tea maker was in the room. The room size, although adequate was a bit tight if you have several pieces of luggage to open simultaneously. In general, the house was smaller than I thought it would be but we simply needed a good place to sleep and have breakfast. We were not planning on lounging around the premises. We love old places and had no problem, but some might find the entry hall with the very dark wood, creaky floors and closed-off rooms that allowed little light less than welcoming. Also, the extremely friendly dog's cage is located at the end of this hall, a bit unsightly for a 'chateau'. Again, not a problem for us, but needs correcting for guests to unanimously rate this as 5 star. I know the owners have plans to continue to improve this antique property in time and it will become more of a 'destination'.The rural location is safe and parking is on the premises. We did enjoy our stay and would return again if we are in the area. I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B.

| + Beautiful house in very rural surroundings. It is still in the process of being renovated but what has been done is very effective and looks good. Comfortable bed, good shower and washing facilities. Lovely breakfast room with excellent coffee and a good selection for breakfast (husband even had a cooked breakfast!). The owner is fantastic so friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English. He also recommended us to a local restaurant which was excellent.

Er zijn enkele leuke dorpjes in de omgeving (Beuvron en Auge; Cambremer). Mery Corbon stelt als dorp niet veel voor. Het kasteeltje ligt afgelegen; Een auto is onontbeerlijk.
Goed ontbijt.

Un petit déjeuner copieux et d'excellente qualité (oeufs brouillés à la ciboulette du jardin, pains et viennoiseries fraiches et de qualité, confitures maisons...). Et surtout un accueil chaleureux et d'excellents conseils de visites dans la région par le couple franco-hollandais de propriétaires, adorables. En bref : un vrai plaisir !

| Wij hebben een geweldige 4 nachten doorgebracht in onze fijne kamer AUBERGINE met luxe badkamer. Elke morgen had onze vriendelijke gastheer Mark weer een heerlijk ontbijt klaar staan en dankzij zijn tips hebben we elke dag weer een goed restaurant gevonden om te eten. Onze midweek was veel te kort om alle bezienswaardigheden te ontdekken. Kortweg een aanrader zowel het B&B als de streek.
